Effective date: August 20, 2026
Cap Counter ("the app") is a water polo coaching tool published by Alpenglow Software ("we", "us"). This policy describes what data the app handles and how.
The app works fully offline and requires no account. If you never sign in, nothing you enter leaves your device.
Signing in is optional. It enables cloud backup of your games, club schedules, and live score sharing — and that is the only situation in which data is sent to us.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind, and we never sell or share your data with data brokers.
Everything you enter — players, rosters, games, events, settings — is stored only on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. It stays there, is removed if you delete the app, and can be cleared at any time from the app's Settings screen.
Signing in creates an account and enables cloud sync. From that point, the following is sent to and stored on our servers (Amazon Web Services, US West region):
About you, the coach
About the players you record
We do not collect players' dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, photographs, or contact details of any kind.
About games and clubs
If a club admin publishes a season schedule, that schedule becomes readable by anyone, without signing in. This is the point of the feature: it lets families follow a team. What becomes public is:
That last point is worth stating plainly: publishing a schedule makes the statistics of games played against it publicly visible, including the first names of the players who recorded them. Last names are never published, and neither is any other player detail.
Publishing is always a deliberate choice by a club admin, applies only to games a coach links to that schedule, and can be undone at any time by unpublishing — which immediately removes public access to the schedule and to those games' statistics.
We share data only with the services required to operate the app:
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to build profiles or target advertising.
The app is intended for adult coaches and club administrators, and is not directed to children.
There is no self-service sign-up. Clubs are created only by us, the app's operator, and an account only becomes usable once a club administrator has invited that person's email address to their club. Anyone signing in without an invitation is refused. In practice this means a child cannot create an account, and no one can create a club and start collecting player data on their own.
Coaches do record the names and statistics of players, who are often minors. That information is entered by an adult coach, is visible only to members of that coach's club, and is never published, sold, or used for advertising. If you are a parent or guardian and want a player's information removed, email us at the address below and we will delete it.
You can permanently delete your account from the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes your account and your personal information.
Games you recorded remain with your club, with your name detached from them, so that a club's records survive a coach leaving. If you are the only member of a club, that club and all of its data are deleted along with your account.
You can also clear all data stored on your device at any time from the app's Settings screen.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Effective date" above reflects the most recent revision. If we make a material change to what we collect, we will update this policy before the change takes effect.
